OTAGO RZ is a celeriac variety for Autumn production and long storage. The variety gives a very nice round bulb with a good internal quality. Short foliage. Planting from half May onwards in North West Europe. Sensible for several growing points in an overmature stage. In an earlier or normal size for harvest (1-1,5 kg) the mutiple growingpoints are very strong against damaging after cleaning, washing and drying. The companies who clean and wash are very satisfied with the fast washing and cleaning of Otago RZ. In the storage Otago has always less or later problems with Phoma then other varieties.

Easy to harvest
Otago RZ is a round-shaped celeriac with a smooth and very strong skin. The interior of the vegetable is white and dense with high dry-matter content. This variety is suitable for the industry as well as the fresh market. The plant has compact leaves and the root implant is small and concentrated around the base. This makes Otago RZ an easy variety to harvest: the bulbs are easy to lift with low tear and the foliage can be kept intact. Otago RZ is very productive and suitable for both direct sales and long-term storage. We advise planting this variety from mid-May onwards in Northwest Europe.
