TARVOS RZ F1 (47-LF74)

Tarvos RZ F1 is suitable for direct sales and long storage.
The variety is mainly used for the fresh market. The variety is nicely rounded and has a smooth and strong skin. Tarvos RZ has strong and erect foliage and fairly short. This is an advantage with the higher planting densities. This shorter firm foliage also has an advantage especially against leaf diseases. The foliage, which is firmly attached to tuber, is also very suitable for harvesting with a clamp belt.

An big advantage of Tarvos RZ is its storability. Tarvos RZ is strong against internal browning. Another big advantage of Tarvos is its flat head. This is an advantage because the growing point will be less damaged during harvesting and cleaning and washing. Thereafter, the growing point is thus less likely to be hit during unloading, drumming, washing and drying, so less problems with rotten heads.

The variety also has the propensity for multiple growing points, but much less than our storage variety Otago RZ. We have also seen that the variety is less susceptible to side shoots.
Furthermore, the variety is very uniform, Also high on the ground and therefore has the roots concentrated at the bottom. This makes the variety easy to harvest and easy to clean and wash and sort, which also reduces its tare.

The variety is not a fast growing. This is a disadvantage for short-term production, but therefore very suitable for field and cell conservation. Another advantage of the flat head of Tarvos RZ is that it is less susceptible to head cracking and does not grow into a pointed shape even with a longer growth period in the field. The variety does always have a cavity in the middle of the tuber and depending on the size of the tuber.
